Meet Original Tin
Kevin Kerr and Jim Petrozzello have a combined 40 years of experience as professional photographers.
New Yorkers at heart (though Kevin is from Ireland and Jim New Jersey), our passion for photography has taken us from personal projects in isolated Buddhist monasteries high in the Himalayas to assignments for major brands and publications, shooting figures such as Mick Jagger and Bill Clinton. Whether making spontaneous street portraits or photographing the president in the Oval Office, we bring our signature curiosity, excitement, and technical expertise to every shoot.
Our interest in the 19th Century wet plate process grew from our appreciation of historical photo processes, in particular our fascination with the unique quality, depth, and beauty of the tin type. There is nothing quite like sharing the slow, magical experience of a tin type shoot with our subjects. Watching the delight on their faces as their image appears before their eyes is incredibly rewarding.
We come to you, working in the comfort of your own home to create a tangible item you will hold in your hands. Blending traditional, authentic techniques with modern equipment we hand pour chemistry onto metal, shoot, and develop your tin type as you watch. Our sessions are professional, fun, personal, and unrushed.
Our goal is to create a tintype that will become a family heirloom and centerpiece of discussion for generations to come.
